G7 Salon at KWC empowers cancer patients on their recovery journey

For patients facing hair loss due to chemotherapy, going out for a haircut often brings psychological stress. Located at GenesisHub on 7/F, Block G of Princess Margaret Hospital, the G7 Salon officially commenced service this February. Organised by Kowloon West Cluster (KWC) Community Health Care in partnership with volunteer barbers from community organisations, the G7 Salon provides haircut and wig-trimming services for cancer outpatients across the cluster.

G7 Salon strives to create a safe and warm space where patients can ease their burdens, echoing the principle of 'Cutting Away Worries', which advocated by May Chan, Cluster General Manager (Nursing) / Deputy Service Director (Primary & Community Health Care). Beyond haircut services, patient groups share rehabilitation experiences, while centre social workers provide referrals to community services tailored to patient needs for ongoing support.

Since its launch, G7 Salon has served over 70 patients, delivering care and encouragement through cross-sector collaboration. "Patients' feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We have received heartfelt messages of gratitude to our volunteer barbers, staff and volunteers!"
