Healthy eating in North District
A ‘Healthy Eating’ promotion campaign has been launched by North District Hospital (NDH) in October. The four-month programme includes health talks and local promotion to educate NDH patients and dwellers of the district on the importance of low-salt and low-sugar diet. An online quiz was created to provide more healthy diet tips. Participation in the quiz is easy, simply by scanning a QR code. To achieve better promotion effect, staff of NDH and Fanling Family Medicine Centre even took part in the shooting of a video to teach people some delicious and healthy recipes.
Tips on lower sodium and sugar intake
1. Avoid too much sauce and condiments.
2. Buy fresh or frozen food instead of processed or prepared food, including canned food, marinated food, roasted meat, and pre-seasoned food.
3. Reduce consumption of ready-to-eat food and processed food, such as potato chips, instant noodles and ham.
4. Check nutrition labels and choose food with lower sugar and sodium content.
5. Choose food and beverages with less sugar, such as fruits, sugar-free candy, Chinese tea and water.
