Surgery

Introduction

The Department of Surgery of the New Territories West Cluster (NTWC) of Hospitals provides comprehensive surgical services in Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) and Pok Oi Hospital (POH). At present, TMH is mainly responsible for emergency and major elective operations, whereas POH for ambulatory and elective short stay procedures. There are more than twenty specialist surgeons in our department, providing services in Hepato-biliary-pancreatic, Vascular, Upper GI, Breast, Lower GI, Plastic, Urology, Thoracic, Thyroid and Ambulatory Surgery. More than 3,000 major and ultra-major operations are performed each year. Our department is also an accredited training center for General Surgery, Urology and Plastic Surgery of The College of Surgeons of Hong Kong and The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
