Introduction

Established in 1991, the Department of Neurosurgery at Tuen Mun Hospital is one of the seven neurosurgical centers in Hong Kong. We provide 24 hour comprehensive neurosurgical service in the North West New Territories.

As one of the recognised training centers in Hong Kong, we provide post-graduate specialty training for neurosurgeons and nurses.

• Multidisciplinary Spasticity Management
• Intraoperative neurological function monitoring

Our centre is one of the most experienced neurosurgical units in Hong Kong to provide spinal lipoma treatment, selective dorsal rhizotomy, epilepsy surgery, cerebral revascularization and intraoperative neurological function monitoring. Equipped with neuronavigation system, operative safety is further enhanced in our unit.

Through working closely with the well equipped gait analysis laboratory in our cluster, we are the only neurosurgical unit in Hong Kong that utilize gait analysis to formulate patients’ treatment plan and to assess outcome. Multidisciplinary early neurological rehabilitation service is also provided to our patients.
