Caring passengers at high risk

Pregnant women

• Provide sick bags in advance and anti-vomiting drugs when necessary.
• Remind them to avoid drinking water and eating food that causes stomachache easily, such as bananas.
• Prepare a portable ultrasound machine and emergency delivery kit with tools for cutting the umbilical cord and keeping the baby warm etc.
• In the case of delivery, the pregnant woman should be positioned in a spacious area near the plane door. Waterproof plastic bags should also be prepared to prevent splashes of amniotic fluid and blood during the delivery.

Patients with heart disease

• Prepare bag-valve-mask and endotracheal intubation device, automated external defibrillator and inotropic agents.
• Modify the resuscitation procedure on patients with cardiac arrest to lower the count of aerosols produced by bagging and intubation, and perform the rescue in a more spacious area near the tail of the plane.

Patients with mental illness

• Prepare sedatives.
• If a patient is emotionally unstable, ensure he remains seated and is attended by medical staff beside him.
