New blood of HA Board vows to speak up for colleagues

“I need to read all relevant papers so as to catch up with the pace of the Board. Then I will have a clearer idea on how I can discharge my duty for colleagues as a Board member.” Quinton Lam

Quinton Lam, Advanced Practice Nurse serving in the Department of Surgery of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH), has been appointed to the HA Board since April this year. Quinton is also a member of Medical Services Development Committee and Information Technology Services Governing Committee of the Board.

In his 30s, Quinton feels very honoured in his new role. He admits that he is at a learning stage and describes his experience at the first HA Board meeting as ‘eye‑opening’. “Compared with other Board members, I am a greenhorn with very little experience in this field. So I will spare no effort to study the policies and directions of HA, to incorporate the voices of colleagues and propose appropriate and feasible ideas to the Board. I also hope my suggestions can help project a young and positive corporate image for HA.”

“Shortage of manpower is always a concern for frontline colleagues,” he says, “I hope I can improve this situation after joining the Board by giving different opinions.”

Quinton has a good understanding of staff matters and actively participated in non-clinical tasks in hospital. He is the convenor of the PYNEH Staff Association (Nursing Services Division) and was a core member of the HR Survey of HA Head Office. He also assisted the PYNEH Nursing Services Division in organising training sessions and various talks for colleagues.
