“Patients always on my mind during typhoons!”
“I worry about patients during adverse weathers such as typhoons, especially for those whose dressings need changed.” says a community nurse. Another expresses, “Sometimes I feel heartbroken when patients refuse to change their daily habits and delay the recovery process.”
Our community nurses, the passionate ‘blue angels’, carry heavy bags and visit patients in the community every day, delivering comprehensive and continuous nursing services to patients in need. During HASLink interviews, we are touched by the cheers and chit-chats between community nurses and neighbourhoods, and we can feel the strong bondings between them. A community nurse who retired 10 years ago was surprisingly recognised by people in the neighbourhood! These heart-warming moments demonstrate how community nurses extend their professional services outside hospitals in the past 50 years. They actualise the vision of ‘seamless healthcare’.
