A cheerful supporter
Wu Wing-sze, Candy
Executive Assistant II
Kwai Chung Hospital
As a member of the supporting team, Candy Wu once worked at a psychiatric general out-patient clinic and medical wards of Psychiatric Unit for Learning Disabilities. She has been taking courses in caring for psychiatric patients and office applications in her spare time, wishing to provide prompt assistance, where necessary, to frontline staff with the knowledge attained. In order to help new clerks to familiarise with their duties, she also made a handbook that included the workflow and important notes of different clerical tasks in wards and back offices, such as the procedures of new admission and reservation for follow-up consultation, as well as details of important contacts.
When the community psychiatric learning disabilities service was introduced in 2016, Candy self-nominated to join the team. During her terms of service, she has set up a database which facilitates colleagues to record and follow-up on cases. In order to explain life and death concept to patients, she assisted the frontline staff in the preparation of training materials for ‘Easy Read Project’ by creating a simple story and drawing illustrations, which guide patients to react to death and express their emotions in a positive manner.
Candy is always cheerful and loves sending out positive energy to colleagues. “I am deeply aware that my job duties may not be as great as that of other medical staff. Nevertheless, I hope that every single tiny thing that I do can benefit my colleagues in their daily works in patient care. The recognition from my senior has also been a great motivation and encouragement.”
