I extend my warmest congratulations to the Hospital Authority on successfully organising the Hospital

Authority Convention 2015. The Hospital Authority has always been an indispensable partner to the
Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the implementation of health policy
initiatives. I would like to applaud all colleagues of the Hospital Authority who have selflessly devoted
their time and effort in the provision of quality public healthcare services, particularly in recent times when
challenges arise unpredictably and often rapidly.
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is committed to maintaining its unwavering
support to the Hospital Authority with a view to enhancing the health of our citizens. In addition to
continuing investment both in hardware and software, we are working in close partnership with the Hospital
Authority on a wide array of healthcare reform initiatives.
This annual Convention has grown to become a highly regarded event that attracts leading healthcare
professionals from around the world to showcase advancements in various fields of healthcare, including
frontline practice, administration and research successes. It is an excellent forum to gather local and
international medical experts with a diverse background yet sharing a common goal of improving people’s
health. By facilitating high-level discussions and exploration of new ideas in enhancing healthcare, the
Convention nurtures innovative thinking and continuous pursuit of excellence that have long been hallmarks
of our city. This also signifies our city’s well-established reputation for providing and promoting world-class
medical services.
I wish the Convention this year every success and I trust all participants will find it an informative, eye-
opening and stimulating experience.
