Message from HOSPITAL AUTHORITY CONVENTION 2015
                       Chief Executive

                                 Hospital Authority, Hong Kong

For more than two decades, the annual Hospital Authority Convention has played a central role

in advancing HA’s mission of helping the people of Hong Kong stay healthy by providing quality public
healthcare services.
Over the years, the Convention has grown in size and scope to become a world-class event that attracts
speakers and attendees from among the leading domestic and international medical practitioners and
healthcare specialists.
This year’s scientific programme encompasses a wide variety of topics that draw inspiration from HA’s
core values – People-centred Care, Professional Service, Committed Staff and Teamwork – with the aim of
promoting the exploration and discussion of contemporary healthcare concepts.
This objective is reflected in the diverse array of plenary sessions, seminars and masterclasses that will
take place during this two-day event, which cover issues ranging from People-centred Elderly Services and
Improving Quality of Life for Long-term Patients, to Leading and Developing a Young Workforce and Peri-
operative Pain Management.
The Convention will feature around 100 distinguished local and overseas speakers who will share their
knowledge and valuable insights in over 50 different sessions. Delegates will also enjoy many opportunities
to interact with these eminent speakers to follow up on areas of interest and build valuable connections for
the future.
At the same time, the Convention will reinforce our city’s reputation as one of the world’s leading providers
of public healthcare services. On behalf of HA and its hardworking and dedicated staff, we are proud to be
making an important contribution to upholding Hong Kong’s status as an international city of excellence.
I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Organising Committee, Scientific Programme Committee
and Convention Management Committee for their tireless commitment in working to make this year’s
Convention a great success. I must also offer heartfelt thanks to the Convention Secretariat for its vital role in
ensuring that the event runs smoothly.
I look forward to the chance to speak with many of you during what promises to be an educational and
insightful two days. I am certain that this year’s Convention will lead to new ideas for medical advancement.
