HOSPITAL AUTHORITY CONVENTION 2015 Message from
Chairman
Hospital Authority, Hong Kong
On behalf of the Hospital Authority, I am delighted to welcome all attendees to the Hospital Authority
Convention 2015.
Ushering into its 21st anniversary, the HA Convention has grown to become a well-respected annual event,
not only for HA or locally, but also on the international healthcare calendar, for enriching knowledge on
a wide range of topics in the provision of modern medical services. The Convention provides a valuable
opportunity for local healthcare professionals to connect with their overseas peers to discuss the potential
for mutually beneficial future collaborations in various areas of medical research and practice.
As Hong Kong continues to experience rapid social and economic change, issues such as increasing
costs, an ageing population, more sedentary lifestyles and the ongoing threat posed by outbreaks of highly
communicable diseases are among the many factors creating new challenges in our efforts to safeguard the
well-being of our community.
As we strive to uphold our reputation for providing world-class medical services, we are pleased to be
benefiting from the expertise and insights of the international healthcare experts attending this year’s
Convention. At the same time, our homegrown medical luminaries have many valuable contributions to make
to the worldwide discussions on delivering excellence in a public healthcare setting.
By facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas as well as networking, the Convention promotes the
innovative thinking that is the foundation to new advancements in medical treatments and technology.
In addition to offering my sincere thanks to this year’s Convention speakers, I also wish to express my
deep appreciation to our officiating guests Mr Xiaowei MA, Vice Minister of the National Health and Family
Planning Commission, The People’s Republic of China and Mr John Tsang, Financial Secretary of the
Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for their strong support to this event.
I wish this year’s delegates an enlightening and inspiring experience that will help you continue to drive
forward in your chosen fields in pursuit of our common objective of improved health for all.
