2:00 pm - 5:23 pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday Closed
Our Centre will be closed when Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, or “Extreme Condition” is hoisted.

The Specialty Outpatient Services, Definition of New and Old Cases and Appointment Booking Procedures

Tuen Mun Eye Centre is an Eye Specialty Outpatient Department of the Hospital Authority, it provides consultation, investigation and treatment services to patients referred from the hospitals, General Outpatient Department or private doctors.

A referral letter by a HK registered medical practitioner is required for all New Cases.

New Case Definition and Appointment Booking Procedure

A new case means:

  1. Patients who have never registered in our Centre.
  2. Patients who have not attended our Centre for the past 1 year and without future appointment.
  3. Patients who have recovered & their case notes are not active or are closed in our computer recording system.

To make a new case appointment, please bring along a doctor's referral letter and the HK ID card or birth certificate for children under 11 years old to the "Appointment and Enquiry" counter on the ground floor of our Centre during office hours.

Or use mobile application “HA GO” through ‘BookHA(Book SOPC)’ to make new case booking.

We only accept referral letter from a HK registered medical practitioner and the validity of the referral is 3 months.

Old Case Definition & Appointment Booking Procedure

Old case are those patients who have been currently treated in our Centre and with follow up appointment. Their case notes are active in our computer recording system.

An old case who missed an appointment or cannot attend an appointment because of the hoisting of Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, or “Extreme Condition”, they can re-book an appointment by choosing the following methods:

  1. Bring along the appointment slip or the HK ID card copy or birth certificate copy for children under 11 years old to the "Appointment & Enquiry" counter on the ground floor of our Centre during office hours. The appointment could be booked by patient or patients' friends / relatives.
  2. Speak to our operator from Mondays to Fridays (except Public Holidays) during office hours for assistance.

Re-book an unattended appointment

It should be referred to the definition of new case and old case before re-booking an unattended appointment.

The Acute Care Screening Service

There is an Acute Care Screening Service run by the ophthalmologist in the Centre. All old case patients who have been currently treated in our Centre and with follow up appointment, can join this service in case of eye emergencies.

The patient who joins this service must follow the regulation as follows:

  1. Patient must come in person to the "Appointment and Enquiry" counter located on the G/F of the Centre for appointment quota arrangement. The counter will be opened at 8:20 am Mondays to Fridays (except Public Holidays). If the quota is full, you can either come again on next working day or seek treatment in the Accident and Emergency Department of the nearby hospital.
  2. Registration fee is collected before seeing the doctor and is non-refundable.
  3. Treatment will be given only to the real urgent case.
  4. For non-urgent cases, no urgent treatment will be given and an appointment will be arranged for them.

Application for Medical Report and Patient Information

For the application of a Medical Report and Patient Information, please ask for an application form at the "Appointment & Enquiry" Counter located on the G/F of our Centre or at the Admission Office of Tuen Mun Hospital (opposite the 7-11). Please return the completed application form to the Health Information & Records Department of Tuen Mun Hospital together with the application fee. Application fee will be applied.

Release of Patient Info - Application Forms and Fees

Arrangement when there is hoisting of Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, or “Extreme Condition”

The Centre will be closed when Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, or “Extreme Condition” is hoisted. Please re-book another date of appointment.

Patients who cannot attend the appointment due to the closing of the Centre because of the hoisting of Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, or “Extreme Condition”, please call our hotline 24785122, press "0" in the select services menu in the next 5 working days and speak to our staff from Mondays to Fridays (except Public Holidays) during office hours for re-booking of an appointment.

Enquiry/Rescheduling of Follow up Appointment

Patient can dial our Tuen Mun Eye Centre (TMEC) hotline 2478 5122 and press "0" in the select services menu. For patient who has not attended TMEC for consultation/treatment in the past one year and without future appointment, the appointment request would be classified as New Case appointment. For any new case appointment, patient should have obtained a fresh referral letter from any registered medical practitioner in Hong Kong before they can approach TMEC to make a New Case appointment. The validity of the referral letter is 3 months.

The location of Tuen Mun Eye Centre

The Centre is located on G/F, No. 4, Tuen Lee Street, Tuen Mun. It is behind the Yan Oi Polyclinic and next to the Waldorf Garden and New Town Mansion.

The nearest Light Rail stop is the Town Centre stop, member of public can also get off the bus at Tuen Mun Government Secondary School stop, Waldorf Garden stop or Tuen Mun Central Bus Terminus and then walk to TMEC.
