Terms of Reference
- To review, formulate and implement an infant feeding policy of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which advocates breastfeeding and supports the normal physiologic development of the newborn and infant.
- To develop measures to protect, promote and support breastfeeding practice in the hospital with the target of achieving a Baby-friendly Hospital status.
- To comply with the Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes.
- To provide mother-friendly care.
- To review and monitor the implementation of breastfeeding policy and baby-friendly practices in the hospital.
- To provide training and education on breastfeeding to hospital staff and volunteers.
- To ensure the optimum supply of milk (breast-milk and / or breast-milk substitutes) to babies at the hospital.
- To monitor and advise on actions against suppliers who fail to follow the ethical guidelines of the WHO or the Hospital on promotion of breastfeeding and marketing of breast-milk substitutes.
- To monitor, review and advise on all matters related to supply of breast-milk substitutes and set direction for the Milk Kitchen.
- To report to Hospital Management Council.
