Breast Feeding

Terms of Reference

To review, formulate and implement an infant feeding policy of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which advocates breastfeeding and supports the normal physiologic development of the newborn and infant.
To develop measures to protect, promote and support breastfeeding practice in the hospital with the target of achieving a Baby-friendly Hospital status.
To comply with the Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes.
To provide mother-friendly care.
To review and monitor the implementation of breastfeeding policy and baby-friendly practices in the hospital.
To provide training and education on breastfeeding to hospital staff and volunteers.
To ensure the optimum supply of milk (breast-milk and / or breast-milk substitutes) to babies at the hospital.
To monitor and advise on actions against suppliers who fail to follow the ethical guidelines of the WHO or the Hospital on promotion of breastfeeding and marketing of breast-milk substitutes.
To monitor, review and advise on all matters related to supply of breast-milk substitutes and set direction for the Milk Kitchen.
To report to Hospital Management Council.
