Baby-Friendly
Do you know what is "Baby-Friendly"?
¡V A global initiative and recommended care model to every baby!
The "Baby-Friendly" practices are:
- Mother receives information on benefits of breastfeeding
- Immediate skin-to-skin contact between mother and the newborn to stabilize the baby, keep warm, and trigger feeding instincts
- Feed the newborn with colostrum and breastfeed exclusively
- Mother and baby stay together day and night
- Feed on baby's cues and response
- No teat and dummy to avoid suckling confusion
- Teach mother correct breastfeeding technique and methods to maintain lactation
World Health Organization recommends infants should be exclusively breastfed for the first six month, and with the introduction of solid food, continue breastfeeding up to 2 years or beyond.
