20 touching tales at hospital
Hospital Authority has released a pictorial book recently which is a lively account of moving happenings at hospitals by staff members. The book vividly depicts the stories between frontline staff and patients, ranging from the power of lives and selfless love to brotherhood and steadfast romance. The book is now available in bookstores and colleagues can also order the book online at http://ha.home/ha_article/pictorial_book.aspx. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the HA Charitable Foundation. Here are excerpts of some enticing stories.

‘…She wept at the thought that nobody would visit her daughter after her passing away. I consoled her and contacted related departments for assistance… I am not just a nurse to them and they are not patient and patient’s family to me. We are one family!’
Is she a patient or a family member?
Moni Chan, Registered Nurse, Siu Lam Hospital
‘...I forgot since when, we celebrate the first 100 days of premature babies delivered in Kwong Wah Hospital who are not yet discharged… We hope that the parents’ wishes come true after the celebration and the babies can leave hospital soon! ’
A memorial service and many 100th day celebrations
Dr Soo Man-ting, Associate Consultant (Paediatric & Adolescent Medical), United Christian Hospital
‘… After a couple of days, the old man did not visit his wife as usual. Later, a drug overdose patient was sent to us – it was him! He explained, “I doubted if my wife is seriously ill because of the new medicine, so I tried and see if I have the same symptom.” …The abiding love of this old couple is so moving to us, making the hospital a place more than just the smell of disinfectant.’
Eternal love of an old couple
