A rich tapestry of compassion

This edition of HASLink features an embroidered cover symbolising the close-knit relationship between public hospitals and the community. Stitch by stitch, this relationship binds together healthcare professionals, community partners, and patients to weave a rich tapestry of medical excellence and compassion throughout the city.
In one hospital, lunchtime piano performances are staged by colleagues to lift the spirits of their comrades and patients. Elsewhere, music therapists and ‘Giggle Doctors' from non-governmental organisations visit wards to give patients a moment of relieve. Some former patients become volunteers and pass their knowledge from patient resource centre to other patients to show peer support.
Alongside the above, innovative activities such as a one-day shop manager programme, Pastel Nagomi Art sessions, and mural project in collaboration with enterprises and groups help hospitals break down boundaries and build a formidable support network for patients. They ensure hospitals not only provide medical treatment, but also care and power for every patient through the collective efforts of our community partners. The North District Hospital featured in ‘The Inside Stories of Hong Kong's Hospitals' is one of the examples.
The Hospital Authority provides comprehensive and holistic care to the people of Hong Kong, and this is only possible with the support and dedication of community partners. In this issue, we share moving stories of partnerships that shine hope into the lives of patients.
