Dietetic Service

Introduction

Dietetic service is provided to patients of Siu Lam Hospital. In-patients can be referred to the department for therapeutic diet service.

Services include:

  1. Therapeutic Diet
  2. Nutritional Assessment
  3. Nutritional Education
  4. Researches

Scope of Services

Therapeutic Diet

It helps to control the state of diseases and promote rehabilitation by regulating and controlling diet. Diseases such as Diabetes, renal diseases, lung disease, cancers, heart disease, stroke, hyperlipidaemia, gout, malnutrition, etc.

In-patient Service

Dietitian also provides nutritional assessment and care plan for in-patients, including therapeutic diet and tube-feeding nutrition supplement.

Nutritional Assessment

The results of a complete nutritional assessment for determining nutritional status can act as a reference in creating suitable meal plan. Therefore, the Dietetic Department screens for patients at high malnutrition risk to prevent the complication resulting from malnutrition.

Nutritional Education

This is a pathway for citizens, long-term psychiatric patients, hospital workers and hostel carers to obtain the most updated information in therapeutic diet and nutrition. Thus, the Dietetic Department conducts a lot of nutritional or therapeutic seminars and exhibitions, and organises diet guidelines for several diseases, such as weight management, hyperlipidaemia and diabetes.

Researches

The Dietetic Department carries out researches relevant to diet and nutrition in order to enhance the related knowledge and applications. It helps to provide clinical evidence-based advices, and improve the quality of nutrition care service.

Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
2:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday Closed
