Hospital Accreditation Programme

In response to the announcement of resumption of hospital accreditation in 2022 and 2023 The Chief Executive’s Policy Address, PWH adopted the China's International Hospital Accreditation Standards (2021 Version) for its accreditation programme in 2024.

The accreditation programme objectively evaluates through an independent accrediting body whether the hospital's performance meets the expected standards, thereby enhancing service quality and ensuring patient safety. It also systematically assesses risks and inadequacies in hospital management, facilities and operations to drive continuous service improvement.

The programme also ensures the hospital's management, service levels and medical quality meet international standards. It promotes standardization of hospital accreditation and quality/safety in the Greater Bay Area, aligning with the national healthcare system.

PWH has attained accreditation under China's International Hospital Accreditation Standards (2021 Version) in Feb 2025 with 179 out of 182 clauses (98.35%) achieving a rating of met or above, encompassing 3 clauses rated as ‘Excellent’ and 30 as ‘Good’. The accreditation cycle spans four years, allowing for continuous monitoring and improvement in the implementation of rectification measures.

Attaining accreditation marks not the end but a new beginning for PWH. The hospital is committed to maintaining the momentum of self-assessment and rectification to deliver quality effective healthcare. PWH is dedicated to actively exchanging experiences and learning points in accreditation with other healthcare institutions.
