1st Anniversary of HA live broadcast programme

T he Hospital Authority's online live broadcast programme Pre-80s Meet Post-80s has now been on the air for one year. To celebrate, the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, was invited to be the "heavyweight guest" in a dialogue with 30 of our colleagues from various groups. Dr Ko previously served as the HA's Deputizing Chief Executive, as well as the Director (Professional Services & Public Affairs) and the Director (Professional Services & Human Resources). His in-depth knowledge of the HA resulted in an animated conversation.

19 guest moderators have participated in the programme's 13 episodes over the past year. The first was Dr Mok Shukam, Professor of the Department of Clinical Oncology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Subsequently, the programme held a roundtable discussion on crisis management with senior executives, such as Robert Chow, the well-known media veteran; Quince Chong, former Director of Corporate Affairs at Cathay Pacific; and Legislative Councillor Fred Li. Outspoken radio host Lee Wai-ling has also shared her experiences about turning crises into opportunities.

Poon Ka-tak, producer of the popular TV drama On Call 36 Hours, has chatted with two doctors on the show about the differences between doctors in dramas and real life.

Since its launch, support group colleagues have been invited onto the show to express their views face-to-face to Mr Anthony Wu, our Chairman, and Dr P Y Leung, our Chief Executive. Many of our colleagues have made enthusiastic comments about the programme, and the online page for this purpose has so far received more than 110,000 hits. The highest audience figure was for "Support Group Voice Their Opinions", which attracted 17,417 hits, compared with an average of 8,548 hit rates. We hope all of you will continue to support the show!

HA Staff commended in consultancy review of clinical governance

T o further improve our services, the Hospital Authority Task Force on Clinical Governance Review last year engaged an external consultancy to conduct a thirdparty assessment of them. The consultancy's report commended the HA's staff as being highly committed, conscientious and diligent. It also praised the progress we have made in putting quality systems and patient safety at the forefront of service delivery.

At the same time, the consultancy team made recommendations concerning seven areas. Among them are the alignment and promotion of understanding about clinical governance, and enhanced incident reporting and learning, as well as management of service demand and enhanced capacity planning.

The HA has accepted the consultancy's report and has set up an Implementation Group to follow up on it. The Report has been posted for public viewing on the HA homepage www.ha.org.hk under the "Special Reports of Corporate News" section.
