HA has received scores of commendations and thankyou letters from people in Hong Kong. Leung Chun-ying, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, also sent an e-mail to HA Chairman Anthony Wu in which he said: "I am proud of all of you and much impressed by your dedicated and professionalism".

One of the ferries involved in the incident was chartered by HK Electric, Li Ka-shing, Chairman of Cheung Kong Holdings - the parent company of HK Electric, also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the HA team for their tireless efforts during the rescue operation, and praised our colleagues as being "highly professional, efficient, courageous, selfless and characterising the core values of the people of Hong Kong".
