Welcome to the Hospital Authority Convention 2017!

This Convention has become a signature event in the healthcare arena of Hong Kong and
worldwide since its inception in 1993. It serves as a good platform for healthcare professionals
locally and overseas to share insights, exchange experiences, as well as build friendship and
networks.

Innovating for better care is the theme of our strategic directions for the next five years. In the
organisation’s strategic plan for 2017-2022, HA has mapped out various strategies to improve
service quality, optimise demand management, attract and retain staff, enhance training and
development and enhance financial sustainability. It is through this Convention that we connect
with healthcare professionals from all over the world to strengthen our knowledge and skills which
will further contribute to the realisation of our strategic plan.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank all the speakers in sharing their professional knowledge
and unique experience in the Convention. They inspire and open our horizons; the more we
exchange, the more we learn and the more we can deliver better patient care to the people in
need.

My sincere gratitude also goes to Mr Wang Hesheng, Vice Minister of the National Health and
Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China; the Honourable Matthew Cheung
Kin-chung, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Government of the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region; and Dr Ko Wing-man, Secretary for Food and Health of the Government of
the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for being the officiating guests of this memorable
occasion.

I wish all of you an inspiring and rewarding experience and all overseas visitors an enjoyable stay
