Over the past several months, colleagues have been engaged in two major operations. The first is preparation for upcoming winter influenza surge andthe second is protection of Hong Kong from Zika virus.

This issue of HASLink takes a multi-angled look at the internal and external actions the Hospital Authority is taking to ensure victory on both fronts. One simple way that individuals can contribute is to protect themselves and others from viral infection and stay ‘battle-ready’ for fighting contagious disease by getting a seasonal influenza vaccination in mid-October.

Our popular ‘1-Minute Talk’ column features an article that was originally published in the ‘HA True Stories’ section of the HA intranet (http://ha.home). In ‘Father and Me’, the author recalls her memories of spending time with her father and how following his advice has helped form her attitude towards life.
