What does it mean to be an outstanding member of staff or team? For a private corporation, it could refer to individuals or divisions that help the company generate large profits or gain new business. But for the Hospital Authority and its seven clusters serving over seven million people in Hong Kong, it is their exceptional achievements in the areas of People-centred Care, Professional Service, Committed Staff and Teamwork that make them stand out.
The selection panel for the Outstanding Staff and Teams Award has selected six members of staff
and five teams from the 34 individuals and 35 teams nominated. Their achievements are diverse: some have solved medical service glitches, some
have enhanced service quality while maintaining
high efficiency, and some have promoted greater public awareness of health-related issues.
But all our awardees have demonstrated performance excellence and showed strength and exceptional dedication in their work.

The Outstanding Staff and Teams Award ceremony was part of the Hospital Authority Convention 2013 programme. In this special issue, I am sure their accomplishments and their insights are a source
              of great inspiration.
