Appreciation warms our hearts

Anyone who has spent time in a hospital or clinic knows that the care and attention provided by healthcare workers can make a world of difference.

The hospitals and general outpatient clinics of the Hospital Authority are very blissful to receive more than 35,000 compliments and appreciations from patients and their families in the year of 2010/11. Meanwhile, the public has also expressed their gratefulness in many different ways. Some offer awards to recognise our works. Others send us presents as a token of thanks.

It is truly our duty to provide good service. Nevertheless, all these appreciation and gratitude are certainly very powerful and able to energise our colleagues. Let us look at some of these positive recognition:

"Appreciation Hub" is an area located at the lobby of North District Hospital which offers a channel for patients and their families to show their support and gratitude to the healthcare workers. Opened on 13 December 2011, the area is now filled with encouraging notes motivating colleagues to perform better.

Three colleagues of HA were awarded the Vocational Service Awards from the Rotary Club of Kowloon Golden Mile on 28 October 2011. The awards appreciate their long-time dedication and unconditional services, and to recognise their outstanding performance at their duties.

More than 2,500 nice sweaters donated by Hospital Governing Committee member of MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Mr Vincent Cheng Wing-ming, and his friend Ms Stella Wong, owner of a textile manufacturing company, are given to the staff of HA. It is a generous gesture to appreciate the professionalism and hard work of our colleagues to achieve the mission of Helping People Stay Healthy.

119 staff and teams from HA were awarded the "Love U All Award" in 2011 selected by the Love U All Charitable Foundation. All awardees have showed their extraordinary care and love, and they have touched the hearts of the patients and their families. The award presenting ceremony was carried out in December 2011.
