Scope of Service
The Occupational Therapy Department of Tai Po Hospital provides rehabilitation services for in-patients from various clinical specialties, including Medicine and Geriatrics, Orthopedics and Traumatology, and Psychiatry, and for those with Spinal Cord Injury. Rehabilitation services are also provided to patients living in the community including Geriatric Day Hospital, Psychiatric Day Hospital and Personalized Care Programme for people with Severe Mental Illness. Our services include:

- Functional Training:
Utilizing advanced robot-assisted equipment to enhance patients' limb strength, coordination, and flexibility, promoting their ability to live independently.

- Life Skills Training:
Providing self-care, home care, and community living training using simulated home and community environments, as well as virtual reality settings.

- Vocational Rehabilitation:
Offering standardized assessments, work skills enhancement groups, and simulated job post training to help patients prepare for employment.

- Lifestyle Redesign:
Featuring mindful spaces to promote a balanced lifestyle through the exploration of various leisure activities.

- Cognitive Assessment and Training:
Assisting patients in enhancing cognitive function through standardized assessments and customized training programs.

- Splintages and Pressure Therapy:
Fabricating custom splints and pressure garments based on patient needs to assist in recovery from various medical conditions.
- Home Assessment and Modification:
Evaluating patients' home environments and providing suitable modification plans based on their needs to enhance safety and accessibility.

- Assistive Devices:
Prescribing appropriate assistive devices and equipment tailored to individual needs to enhance daily functioning and promote the ability to live independently.
Our department also provides clinical education for occupational therapy students from local university and college.
Referral Procedures
- For in-patients, referrals are made by hospital based doctors.
- For day patients, please obtain a referral letter from a registered doctor in Hospital Authority and the referral is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
