Speech Therapy

Introduction

The Department of Speech Therapy had started the speech therapy outpatient service at Tuen Mun Polyclinic since 1980’. Upon the opening of Tuen Mun Hospital in 1990, the Department moved in the Hospital in 1992 and started to provide both inpatient and outpatient services.

Now, we are providing comprehensive services to patients who suffer from communication and/or swallowing disorders. Our target populations range from different ages and etiologies.

Scope of Services

Speech Therapy offers evaluation and intervention to patients suffering from:

Communication Disorders

• Developmental Speech / Language Delay or Disorder
• Voice Disorder
• Acquired / Neurological Speech/Language Disorders
• Fluency DisorderHearing impairment

Swallowing Disorders

• Neurological Dysphagia
• Structural Dysphagia
• Pyschological Dysphagia

Multidisciplinary services include Videofluoroscopy Study of Swallowing (VFSS), Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), Geriatric Day Hospital service, Voice Clinic, IPCP Program in Stoke, Cleft Clinic and Autistic Spectrum Disorder Program etc.

For in-patient: accept medical referral only

For out-patient: please bring medical referral and go to 7/F, Department of Speech Therapy, Ambulatoroy Care Center, Tuen Mun Hospital
