IntroductionEstablished in 1991, the Tuen Mun Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides medical and surgical intensive care for patients. We are currently located at the B8 and T8 wards of the Main Block, with a total of 34 beds (26 ICU, 4 HDU and 4 SHDU beds). We admit approximately 2,000 patients each year. We provide care for adult and paediatric patients who are 10 years or older for surgical cases or 15 years or older for medical cases. In addition to life-support therapies such as mechanical ventilation and artificial nutrition, our range of care also extends to continuous and intermittent renal replacement therapies, blood purification therapies and mechanical circulatory support. In order to deliver high-quality care to our patients, our unit is staffed with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapist, dietitian, speech therapist, occupational therapist, chaplain and trained supporting staff. Our team is dedicated to improving the satisfaction of patients and their families through fostering teamwork and innovation. We are committed to nurturing future ICU talents for Hong Kong. Our unit is a training centre of Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists and Hong Kong College of Physicians for ICU specialist doctors. We also provide Post-registration Certificate Course (ICU) training for nursing staff. Scope of Services
