Introduction

We started our anaesthetic services shortly after the opening of Tuen Mun Hospital in March 1990. Our department is now providing more than 15,000 anaesthetics per year in virtually every surgical field except for open heart surgery. Apart from providing anaesthetic care in our 12 major operating theatres, and we also provide services in other settings, such as labour analgesia, acute and chronic pain services, electroconvulsive therapy, interventional radiology, resuscitation, and trauma management.

Apart from active participation in patient care, we also promote education and professional training to our staff, as well as quality assurance and clinical improvement programmes.

To achieve excellence in all areas of the department, we continue to promote the efficient use of time and resources with the aim of providing our patients with quality and affordable healthcare.

Introduction

The Operating Theatre of NTWC is composed of Tuen Mun Hospital and Pok Oi Hospital. The Operating Theatre of Tuen Mun Hospital is composed of 4 operating theatre floors, namely T2, T3, T4 and T5. There are totally 11 theatres. Two theatres are assigned for emergency operation for 24 hours continuous service from Monday to Sunday. The Operating Theatre serves seven departments, namely:-
