Introduction

We aim to help children, young people, adults, elderly, families and care givers with structured effective psychological treatments for a wide range of psychological problems.


All assessments and treatments are carried out within the international standard of care. These interventions are undertaken by qualified clinical psychologists with expertise in the area of difficulty and age range.

Mission

  • To promote the Human side of medicine.
  • To apply research and effective practices in psychology and behavioral medicine to an acute hospital setting, focusing on early intervention and rehabilitation of physical illnesses.
  • To adopt multidisciplinary approaches and integrate psychological, behavioral, social and biomedical science knowledge and techniques in the management of illnesses and health-related behaviors.

Modes of Service Delivery

  • Individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy
  • Screening and assessment
  • Staff training on aspects of psychological care, communication, personal growth and managing work stress
  • Consultation to staff, teams, wards, departments and organizations - on areas related to work, stress and workplace communication/ conflicts
  • Research on clinical and psychosocial aspects for service improvement
  • Psycho-educational and early intervention programs


Scope of Services

Clinical Psychology Services Include:


In-Patient Services


Direct Clinical Services, including:

  • Pre-surgical (or procedural) psychosocial assessment (incl. decision-making processes)
  • Post-surgical (or procedural) complications/ adjustment
  • Post-trauma psychological intervention (e.g. accidents, burns)
  • Adjustment to illness progression and hospitalization (e.g. newly diagnosed, relapsed)
  • Pain management
  • Cognitive/ Neuropsychological assessment
  • Crisis intervention
  • Indirect Consultation, including:
  • Treatment compliance issues
  • Communication issues

Out-Patient Services (for specific illnesses)

  • Pain
  • Cancer
  • Cardiac
  • Trauma

Clinical psychology services aim to support patient to gain physical and psychological well-being. Meanwhile, we are supposed to enhance different medical and other helping professionals to have a thorough understanding of patient's psychological need. In the counseling process, patients will have more understanding themselves, especially their adjustment and emotional condition. They will learn to handle and adapt to different conditions which caused by their illness, e.g. pre- and pro-surgical anxiety.
