2024/3/4-6 - Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors Visiting Professorship Programme 2024
Thanks to the generous donation of the Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors (POH BOD), the POH BOD Visiting Professorship Programme 2024 was successfully held. The theme of the programme this year was ‘Frontiers in Movement Disorders – Genomic Diagnosis to Precision Management’. Esteemed overseas and local experts in movement disorders were invited to serve as visiting professors to share their professional knowledge and expertise over the diagnosis and management of movement disorders.
A total of 16 lectures were delivered in hybrid mode with face-to-face meetings and online webinars. The event received overwhelming response from the participants, with over 2 800 attendances. Throughout the lectures, visiting professors shared the cutting-edge technology and knowledge on the etiology, genetic diagnosis and interdisciplinary treatment and rehabilitation of movement disorders. They actively engaged with the participants, fostering discussions on a wide range of real-life and challenging cases.

2023/2/14-16 - Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors Visiting Professorship 2023
Thanks to the generous donation of the Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors (POH BOD), the POH BOD Visiting Professorship Programme 2023 was successfully held. This year’s programme was co-organised by the Department of Surgery of the New Territories West Cluster, the Hong Kong Society for Vascular Surgery and the Department of Surgery of the University of Hong Kong, with the theme of ‘Endovascular Surgery’. It was the first time to host the programme in a hybrid format, with online webinar and face-to-face meeting to break the geographical barriers. More than 50 experts in Vascular Surgery from all over the world were invited to share their professional knowledge and interact with the participants.
A total of 15 lectures were delivered in the three-day programme. The event received overwhelming response from the participants, with almost 4,500 attendances.
2022/2/18-19 and 3/10 - Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors Visiting Professorship 2022
With the support of the generous donation from Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors (POH BOD), the POH BOD Visiting Professorship program 2022 was successfully held. The theme of the program this year was Robot-assisted Brain and Spine Surgery: Current State-of–the-Art Practice. Five world-renowned experts in brain and spine surgery were invited to be the visiting professors.
In view of the local situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is the first year to host the program online. A total of eight lectures were delivered with almost 700 attendances. The visiting professors shared the most advanced knowledge and expertise in Robot-assisted Brain and Spine Surgery, discussed clinical cases and interacted with participants.

With the support of the generous donation from Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors (POH BOD), the POH BOD Visiting Professorship program 2020 was successfully held. Professor Michael P. Grant, an internationally renowned expert in plastic and reconstructive surgery, was invited to be the visiting professor. Under the theme of “Reconstructive Orbital and Facial Surgery”, Professor Grant shared his knowledge and experience in various aspects, including surgical management of thyroid-related orbitopathy, midface and eyelid reconstruction.

2019/1/17-19 - Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors Visiting Professorship 2019
With the support and generous donation from Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors (POH BOD), the POH BOD Visiting Professorship Program 2019 was successfully held. The theme of the program this year was Surgical Treatment in Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome: From Box Surgeries to Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation. Dr Hsueh-Yu LI, specialist in soft tissue surgery from Taiwan and Dr Stanley LIU, specialist in bone work and hypoglossal nerve stimulation from the United States were invited to be the visiting professors.
A total of twelve lectures were delivered at Pok Oi Hospital, Tuen Mun Hospital and Kowloon Cricket Club with over 1,000 attendance.

With the support of the generous donation from Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors, the POH BOD Visiting Professorship program 2018 was successfully held. Professor Harold I. Litt, an international renowned expert on Radiology, was invited to be the visiting professor. Professor Litt is the Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He delivered a series of seminars on the theme - State of the art MRI and CT Cardiovascular Imaging: from Science to Clinical Applications.

With the support of the generous donation from Pok Oi Hospital Board of Directors, the POH BOD Visiting Professorship Seminar 2017 was successfully held. Professor John E. Morley, an internationally known expert in Geriatric Medicine from the US, was invited to be the inaugural visiting professor. He delivered a series of lectures on care for frail elderly patients and end of life care at old age home settings.

2011/05/12 - Pain Workshop Symposium
Cluster Pain Management Committee, Hong Kong Pain Society and various departments including Orthopaedics & Traumatology, Neurosurgery, Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, jointly organized the Interventional Pain Workshop in Auditorium, Pok Oi Hospital on 12 May 2011. The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and related practice of medical, nursing and allied health staff on interventional pain management. There were more than 150 staff from various Clusters who participated in the workshop. In the morning forum session, overseas specialist from Australia and Taiwan were invited to share their clinical experiences and research findings; followed by a live demonstration on the handling of pain during surgical operations.

2011/01/22 - Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) Workshop
Endoscopic Ultrasound Workshop was successfully held on 22 Jan 2011. Experienced clinical staff from 5 hospitals of Hospital Authority had been invited for delivering lectures and live demonstrations. More than 100 participants joined the workshop. Through video conferencing and professional live demonstrations by speakers, participants could learn about the operation techniques, as if they were inside an operating theatre. Participants also learnt about the latest technology on the area.

2010/03/27 - Workshop on Slings for Male Urinary Incontinence
The above academic activity was successfully organized on 27 March 2012. On the day of workshop, overseas specialists from Austria and USA were invited as speakers, delivering lectures on advances in Male Urinary Incontinence and adjustable device for treatment of stress urinary incontinence in men. There were also live demonstrations in Operating Theatre via video-conferencing, which attracted more than 159 participants who benefited much from the workshop.

2010/03/19 - Minimal Access Surgery Symposium
On 19 March 2012, the Minimal Access Surgery Symposium was organized by the Surgery Department at the Lecture Theatre, 1/F of Pok Oi Hospital. Contents included Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Surgery as well as live surgery demonstrations via video-conferencing to the venue by renowned doctors. The response of the Symposium was overwhelmed with more than 148 attendances.
