Service Overview
Hospital Authority provides a Non-Emergency Ambulance Transfer Service (NEATS) for patients with mobility impediment or special needs. This point-to-point service operates between facilities under the Hospital Authority and patients' residences, including homes, residential care homes, and various clinical institutions. The service covers discharges, transfers, scheduled admissions, and follow-ups at Specialist Outpatient Clinics and Geriatric Day Hospitals.
Target Patients
This service is aimed at patients with mobility impediment or specific sensory impairments who cannot use other forms of transportation (including public transport, rehabilitation buses (Rehabus), taxis, or vehicles of residential care homes) and meet the service usage criteria as assessed by clinical staff. For detailed service usage criteria, please refer to the service leaflet.
Application
Patients in need can request service through Specialist Outpatient Clinics, Geriatric Day Hospitals, or ward staff. Clinical staff will assess the applicants to ensure they meet the service usage criteria.
Elderly Transport Service (ETS)
Hospital Authority has commissioned a contractor to operate the “Elderly Transport Service (ETS)" for patients aged 60 or above with mobility difficulties, as well as for patients under 60 with mobility difficulties requiring day or outpatient rehabilitation services following a stroke. Patient transport services provided by other service providers
The Government has actively promoted an accessible public transport system. Services such as low-floor buses, low-floor green minibuses, accessible taxis, and Rehabus have become increasingly available for individuals with mobility impediment. Due to high demand and limited resources for NEATS, patients and their families are encouraged to consider alternative transport options whenever possible.
