Message from HOSPITAL AUTHORITY CONVENTION 2017

I am delighted to offer the Hospital Authority my warmest congratulations.

Healthcare is all about people. As the major provider of public healthcare services in Hong Kong,
the Hospital Authority is instrumental in the protection and promotion of the well-being of people
in our city and has always been an indispensable partner to the Government in the implementation
of health policy initiatives. As we strive to uphold quality healthcare services, we are affirmative
in the unweaving support in terms of finances and policy direction to the Hospital Authority in the
past, present and future.

According to surveys released by various institutions, our public healthcare service is valuable as
the system serves as an essential safety net for the population and is rated as the most efficient
in the world. I believe this could not be achieved without the technological development which
significantly advances our ability to successfully diagnose and treat different diseases. Most
importantly, we should not underestimate the utmost importance of human touch from a group
of committed and dedicated healthcare professionals, researchers and supporting staff from
the Hospital Authority. I would like to express my sincere thanks to their efforts in serving the
community with selfless devotion.

Over two decades, this Conference offers an unparalleled opportunity for clinicians of various
specialties from around the world to exchange information, ideas and best practices in diagnosis,
treatment and broader care of patients. I am certain that all participants will benefit from the
wisdom and experience of distinguished local and international speakers this year.

I wish the Hospital Authority Convention 2017 every success and all participants an inspirational,
