staff members may encounter verbal abuse and physical violence when
performing their jobs.
To mitigate the risk and protect our staff from such encounters, the Hospital Authority (HA) has been implementing a series of strategic measures since 2005 to manage and combat workplace violence. In 2011, workplace violence cases (injury-on-duty) have decreased from 618 to 376, down 39%, while those non-injury-on-duty cases dropped 73% from 1,358 to 365, as compared to the year 2006.
To enhance the ability and skills of staff to manage and combat workplace violence, the HA organises seminars and workshops periodically. The HAHO Staff Wellbeing Team in partnership with the Crime Prevention Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force and HA appointed lawyer organised a series of seminars, workshops, as well as real cases and tips sharing in September this year. In addition, advanced courses are also organised such as 'Body-Mind-Spirit Intervention Training for Conflict Resolution & Wellness Enhancement' and 'Promoting Workplace Civility: Staff Engagement & Leadership Development".
If you are interested in the advanced courses, please call 2300 6937 for details.
