KWH mobile app empowers staff to work on the move for sustainable transformation

KWH is awarded for the outstanding performance of KWH ‘@Work’ and Cluster Cloud Mobile Application Platform. Hospital staff often need to work across various locations within the hospital and cannot remain at their desks at all times. Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH) ‘@Work’ mobile app integrates clinical and non-clinical systems, enabling staff to place orders, assign tasks, and manage workflows anytime, anywhere through their mobile devices. By leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to support decision-making, the app significantly enhances operational efficiency and advances the vision of a sustainable transformation.

KWH ‘@Work’ was developed through a collaborative effort between Hospital Authority Head Office Information Technology and Health Informatics Division, Business Support Services Department, Cluster Information Technology Division of the Kowloon Central Cluster, as well as Administrative Services Division and Nursing Services Department of KWH. To support the app’s development, KWH has replaced over 2,500 desktop phones with smartphones, backed by comprehensive hospital-wide Private 5G and Wi-Fi coverage. KWH General Manager (Administrative Services) Macky Tung states: “The hospital app ‘@Work’ features five key functions. For instance, colleagues can electronically order consumables like Paracetamol through the app when the ward stock is low. It allows colleagues to assign maintenance tasks and report for task completion, as well as enabling electronic tracking of specimens and hospital bed locations. All designed to enable real-time progress monitoring. Supervisors can also monitor resources and manpower allocation in real time through integrated dashboards. The app fully embodies ‘Operation on Move’ strategy to empower staff to work on the move. By incorporating AI, it transforms previously manual workflows into fully automated processes managed via mobile devices, streamlining operations and improving cross-team collaboration and efficiency.”

In recognition of its outstanding performance of KWH ‘@Work’ and Cluster Cloud Mobile Application Platform, KWH received the Gold Award of Smart Business Award (Solution for Business and Public Sector Enterprise) in 2025 Hong Kong ICT Awards organised by the Digital Policy Office of the government.

 ‘@Work’ features five key functions: e-Order, e-Inspection, e-Service, e-Trace and e-Location.
