Introduction
The Department of Old Age Psychiatry (OAP) of Castle Peak Hospital was established in January 1994. Our service includes the provision of comprehensive psychogeriatric assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for elders aged 65 or above living in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai.
Scope of Services
In-patient Service
The Department of Old Age Psychiatry operates two gazetted psychogeriatric wards, one male and one female, with 24-hour admission function. It offers assessment, acute treatment, extended care, as well as rehabilitation service.
Community Psychogeriatric Service
The Community Psychogeriatric Team (CPGT) provides the following services:
- Medical Outreach Service to Selected Private and Subvented Residential Care Homes for the Elderly (RCHEs)
- Consultation-liaison Service to the Medical and Geriatric Department of Tuen Mun Hospital
- Memory Clinics at TMMHC
- Dementia Supplement (DS) Verification Exercise
- Psychogeriatric Specialist Out-patient Clinic (PGSOPC)
- Enhanced Home and Community Care Scheme (EHCCS)
- Elderly Suicide Prevention Program (ESPP)
- Mobile Cognitive Assessment Service (MCAS)
- Nurse-led Outreach Service to Selected Subvented Residential Care Homes for the Elderly (RCHEs), Subvented Residential Care Homes for Persons with Disabilities (RCHDs) and Nursing Homes
- Psychiatric Nurse Clinic (Psychogeriatric) (PNC(PG))
- Dementia Community Support Scheme (DCSS)
- Home Visits by Multi-disciplinary Members
- Educational and Training Programs
