Joint Replacement Centre
The Joint Replacement Centre (JRC) of the New Territories East Cluster (NTEC), located
at Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital (AHNH), is the fourth joint replacement centre
under the Hospital Authority established on 1 October 2015. The center offers joint
preservation treatment to patients with the aim of alleviating their symptoms and
maximizing functionality, thereby avoiding or delaying the need for joint replacement
surgery. The centre also offers a range of surgical treatments, including hip
replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, bilateral knee
replacement, and high tibial osteotomy. To enhance surgical precision, the center has
introduced medical robotic arm technology, thus reducing surgical risks and shortening
postoperative recovery time.
To further enhance the quality of care, the centre has set up a joint replacement nurse
clinic, providing pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure optimal treatment
outcomes throughout the surgical process. Moreover, the centre is innovative and makes
use of information technology to improve the quality of life for patients with hip and
knee arthritis. The mobile app, “JR care”, developed with our hospital’s participation,
allows patients to create personal electronic joint replacement records and promote home
rehabilitation exercises, enhancing patient satisfaction and recovery outcomes.
