From the editor

While public distress and concerns understandably dominated the media during the recent lead-contaminated water incident in Hong Kong, behind the headlines another story was unfolding – a tale of dedication, compassion and care as colleagues across the Hospital Authority network took on increased workloads or voluntarily returned from scheduled leave to help with the collection and testing of blood samples from people who had been exposed to a contaminated water supply and contribute to managing any related follow-up action. This issue’s cover story casts a spotlight on the tireless efforts of frontline and laboratory staff to serve the patients during this recent public health scare.

HA is embracing the power of social media to further enhance its internal and external communication. A new webpage will soon be launched for colleagues to share touching moments they have witnessed or experienced in the course of their day-to-day working lives at HA. The most heartwarming of these stories will have the chance to be made into short films or republished as focus pieces in special feature columns.

This issue also has other interesting and informative articles. Happy reading!
