The firm foundations established by our predecessors provide a strong platform for continued growth. A number of the Hospital Authority’s buildings and facilities are ‘old Hong Kong hands’ that can boast starring roles in the evolution of healthcare services in our city. This issue’s Cover Story offers readers the chance to enjoy a tour of these historic buildings, with colleagues sharing memories of bygone days in a familiar corner or place, and explaining how these structures contributed to the development of medical treatment and brought healthcare professionals together to build a stronger HA family today.

Our new ‘Works Update’ column provides the latest news on construction, redevelopment and capital works projects across the HA network. Our inaugural column reports on progress with the construction of Hong Kong Children’s Hospital – Hong Kong’s first hospital to focus predominantly on tertiary healthcare for children – and the reconstruction works at Queen Mary Hospital .
