Introduction

Speech Therapy service in TWH aims at providing a high quality service to individuals and the community to maximize their communication and swallowing functions through assessment and diagnosis, interventions, appropriate liaison, advocacy, community education and research. Communication&swallowing disorders impose a long-term physiological, psychological as well as social impacts on individuals concerned.

    Scope of Service

Individualized rehabilitation programs will be devised for patients who evidence communication and/or swallowing disorders. 

    Swallowing Disorder (Dysphagia)

• Neurologic Disorders of Swallowing

• Psychogenic Disorders of Swallowing

• Mechanical Disorders of Swallowing

    Tracheostomy Tubemanagement

    Speech Disorders

• Articulation and/or phonological Disorder (e.g. Cleft Palate)

• Motor Speech Disorders (e.g. Dysarthria, Dyspraxia) 

    Language Disorders

• Developmental language delay and/or disorder

• Acquired language disorders (e.g. Aphasia)

• Augmentative Communication Rehabilitation
