Department profile

Our department provides rehabilitation services for in-patients from various clinical specialties including Orthopedics, Medicine and Geriatrics, infirmary and psychiatry, and for discharged patients or those living in the community who require day rehabilitation service in the Geriatric Day Hospital and Rehabilitation Center of Tai Po Hospital. We also offer outpatient exoskeleton training to spinal cord injury patients who just discharged from Tai Po Hospital.

In order to enhance quality patient care, we have adopted evidence-based practice in our assessment, treatment and day to day clinical service delivery and rehabilitation. Through exercise therapy, manual therapy, electrotherapy and other physical modalities, we provide therapeutic treatment to improve joint range, muscle strength, coordination, balance, physical functions and pain management. We also provide robotic gait training and exoskeleton training to suitable patients. Moreover, we emphasize on the early involvement and empowerment of care giver to facilitate safe patient discharge.

Our department also provides clinical education to physiotherapy undergraduates for local training institutes.
