Update on cluster of Influenza A cases
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of patients in a mixed gender medical ward being infected with Influenza A, the spokesperson of the Prince of Wales Hospital made the following update today (26 September):

Two more patients (one male and one female, aged 76 and 66) in the ward had presented with influenza symptoms. Viral tests had been arranged for the patients and the test results were positive to Influenza A. The concerned patients are being treated under isolation with stable condition.

Admission and visiting to the ward have been suspended. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
