The spokesperson of the Prince of Wales Hospital made the following announcement today (20 September):

Five female patients (aged 54 to 75) of a mixed gender medical ward have presented with influenza symptoms since 7 September. Viral tests have been arranged for the patients and the test results were positive to Influenza A. One of them has recovered and been discharged. The others are now being treated under isolation with stable condition.

Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection.
