Human Swine Influenza Case

The spokesperson of Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) today (30 March) announced a newly confirmed critical case of human swine influenza (HSI):
 
A 58-year-old male patient with chronic obstructive airway disease attended the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital on 28 March due to fever and cough, and was admitted into the isolation ward.  He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit the next day (29 March) and positive result of HSI was confirmed.  Tamiflu and antibiotics were prescribed.  He is now in critical condition and requires ventilation support.  The hospital will continue to closely monitor his condition.
