The spokesperson of the Prince of Wales Hospital made the following announcement today (14 September): Four patients (aged from 51 to 71) of a female orthopaedic ward have presented with influenza symptoms since 5 September. Viral tests were arranged and the results of the four patients were positive to Influenza A. One of the patients was discharged and the other three patients have been transferred to the isolation ward for treatment and are in stable condition.
Admission and visiting to the ward concerned are suspended for the time being. Infection control measures of the ward have already been stepped up and other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
