Prince of Wales Hospital Wards Relocation Commences
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Main Clinical Block and Trauma Centre of the Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) will commence service next Monday (11 October 2010). The medical wards will begin moving to the extension block next Monday, followed by surgical wards, orthopaedic wards, private wards, burns centre and intensive care unit. The relocation will complete at the end of October. The admission office, shroff, pharmacy, and operating theatres will also be relocated to the extension block during the same period.

The spokesperson for PWH reminds the public, “Visitors are advised to refer to hospital signage or ask enquiry staff for the new location of wards. Volunteers will also stand by at the extension block and the existing Main Block to guide visitors and answer their questions.”

“The Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) will be relocated on October 28. Both the new and old A&E will operate in parallel starting 8am that day. New patients arriving after 8am will be treated in the new A&E. The old A&E will close after all patients who have arrived and registered before 8am have been treated,” the spokesperson added.

“Clinical oncology, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, neo-natal and paediatric intensive care units, and the Li Ka Shing Specialist Outpatient Clinic (including pharmacy and shroff) will not be relocated and will remain in their original locations.”
