The spokesperson of Prince of Wales Hospital made the following announcement today (13 June):

Four patients (aged 20 to 58) of a male clinical oncology ward have presented with influenza symptoms since 4 June.  Viral tests have been arranged for the patients and the test results were positive to Influenza A.  They are now being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.

Restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed.  Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines.  All other patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection.
