The Department of Psychiatry provides clinical outpatient services for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly through a holistic approach. With the combined efforts of psychiatrists, nurses and community psychiatric team, we endeavour to facilitate patientsˇ¦ recovery through pharmaceutical and psychological treatments, optimization of their functional states and supports to their community reintegration. We also work in partnership with clinical psychologists, allied health professionals and medical social workers to provide service to indicated cases. Apart from taking care of our patients, we also provide necessary assistance to their family members.
We work closely with the A&E and other clinical departments to provide prompt assessment for patients presenting with symptoms of mental illnesses through our consultation liaison team.
The outpatient clinic is also a centre for clinical research and teaching of the Chinese University of Hong Kong for training medical and nursing students.
