Introduction
Since the 1990s, Patient Resource Centres (PRCs) of the Hospital Authority (HA) have been served as the hospital focal points in engaging the community partners, and liaising with our patients and their carers for enhancing support according to patient needs.
Service Objectives
- To promote psychosocial support and community integration for patients and carers
- To establish platforms for patient and carer empowerment and self-management
- To act as an interface and enabler in engaging patients, carers, volunteers and community organizations as partners in healthcare
Four Core Services
- Empowerment and support for patients and carers
Provide empowerment programs & patient education initiatives, psychosocial support and other support activities to patients and/or carers
- Support to patient groups
Facilitate development and strengthen relationship of self-help groups and mutual support networks for patients and their carer
- Volunteer services and development
Develop, coordinate and monitor volunteer services for better patient care
- Community engagement and partnership
Build up platforms for the engagement of community partners and service users to contribute in HA healthcare services
There are five PRCs in New Territories West Cluster:
- Patient Resources Centre of Tuen Mun Hospital
- Cancer Patient Resource Centre of Tuen Mun Hospital
- Patient Resources Centre of Pok Oi Hospital
- Patient Resources Centre of Tin Shui Wai Hospital
- Tuen Mun Mental Health Day Service Centre (Mindset) of Castle Peak Hospital
