Vascular Surgery
Vascular surgery is concerned with arterial and venal diseases, such as abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), carotid artery blockage, lower limb artery blockage and varicose veins. The main types of operations include AAA repair surgery and endovascular stenting, carotid endarterectomy, lower limb arterial bypass grafting and endovascular balloon dilatation/stenting, traditional venous operations and the latest venous endovascular interventions (injection sclerotherapy, laser therapy, injection of vein adhesive), haemodialysis arteriovenous fistula operations, etc.
The Vascular Diagnostic Centre under the Department (TWGHs Cheung Chi Kwan Memorial Vascular Diagnostic Centre) is equipped with Duplex Scan, transcranial Doppler ultrasound blood flow monitor and Doppler ultrasound blood flow monitor, etc. to conduct non-invasive inspections without causing trauma for accurate, reliable diagnosis of the circulatory system.
