From OSH Point of view, I support Dr. Seto's Appeal's 100%.
The barrier man is only used for biological and chemical disaster when there is a major spill, by the trained qualified competent workers. They are gowned up to go into the chemical or biological spilt areas to save the victims.
The gowning up and degowning must be trained and taken off by trained helpers after going through 3 emergency decontamination stations. That is 2 emergency showers must have water flushing down at 15 litres per second for 15 minutes, then disinfection with the barrier man on at 3rd station, then degowning, with helpers. Go to another room for proper shower, and out through another door with medical personnel to do the check up.
Actually is really for war by biological weapon thrown down by helicopters or major chemical spillage that requires Police & FSD in hospital setting.
If our present practice for the last 6 weeks still proofs nil staff contracted SARS at workplace, that means our frontline nurses, doctors and all health care workers are having high alert and standards that we should be proud of on infection control particular in caring of infectious diseases. This standard of practice must be kept on.
Lets pray to God that Heaven is our deceased colleague, also God's Blessings for his family; and finally May God Bless also us with Health, Spirit, Understanding and Tolerance to combat this battle in harmony and unity.
